CMSA Babysitting Initiative

Amongst the global COVID-19 pandemic, Christchurch medical students have set up a volunteer babysitting service that doctors and other health professionals can access during the lock-down to allow them to continue working.

Trainee Intern Lydia Foley is one of the students involved. She says students wanted to be able to support the clinical effort but only sixth year students were able to continue working within the health system.

This babysitting initiative allows  for police-vetted medical students to volunteer to join one ‘medical family bubble’ and care for children. The students hope that this will take the stress of clinicians during this busy time.
